Adult Classes (13 years and older)
Q) What do I wear?
A) Pankration classes-Fight shorts or board shorts and fitted t-shirt or dri-fit shirt. No heavy sweats or heavy shirts. Yoga classes- Workout clothes you feel comfortable sweating in. Tank tops, shorts, sports bras, dry fit clothes. No heavy sweats or heavy shirts. You will be sweating a lot! Yoga and pankration classes are practiced in bare feet. You will need athletic shoes for the first part of the Tiger’s Eye class and for the Warrior Circuit classes. Come prepared to sweat!
Q) What do I need to bring?
A) A water bottle for all classes.
Yoga Classes: Towel and Yoga Mat. We sell towels if you forget yours.
Pankration (MMA) classes: Mouth guard, protective cups, hand wraps, MMA practice gloves, and inexpensive boxing gloves are required. Sparring classes will require sparring head gear.
Q) I don't have a yoga mat where can I find one? Where can I find mouth guard, hand wraps, and mma gloves?
A) For yoga mats, I suggest going to the nearest TJ Maxx or Marshalls, you can usually find mats there for around 10-12 dollars!
Dick’s Sporting Goods or similar sporting goods stores should have the equipment for Pankration (MMA) or you can go online to order. We recommend Titleboxing.com.
Q) I don’t know how to do the hand wrapping.
A) Please have your hands wrapped before the start of class. Check out the tutorial on the website for instructions. The wrapping doesn’t have to be perfect—you will get better with practice.
Q) Can I talk on my cell phone or to other students in the class?
A) No, leave the cell phone outside in the lobby. Many students come early to focus on their practice. Be considerate of the other students.
Q) What if I am late to class, can I still enter the room?
A) No. Our classes are designed for a full 60 minutes. In order to give you the full benefit of the class time and to avoid disturbing the other students, the practice rooms will be closed 3 minutes before class time, so you should always try to be 10 minutes early to class in order to have your equipment on or set up so that we can start on time. If it is your first class try arriving 20 minutes before class time, to fill out forms and get ready for class. Training like a warrior is a practice that requires discipline and arriving late can disrupt the class.
Q) Can I wear my shoes into class?
A) No, socks and shoes must be left outside the yoga and pankration rooms. However, you will wear shoes for the first part of Tiger’s Eye and for the Warrior Circuit classes.
Q) I have never done yoga or mixed martial arts, is this okay?
A) Yes! Beginners are always welcome. Don't be afraid to try this great experience! It will be tough at first but you will improve with every session.
Q) Do I need to be a good athlete or a fighter to participate in these classes?
A) No, our classes are designed for all levels. We have members who train with us that represent a variety of different levels—from those who have just started training and want to get in shape, to those who are focused on training for competition. We welcome people of all experience levels, ages, and gender to participate in the classes. The key is that you go where you can in every practice; as long as you give 110% effort you will get 110% benefit. At first it might be hard, you might not be able to do every pose or skill, but we guarantee you will improve with every session and you will see results.
